Vhalloumi - Levantine Cheese Alternative
Our Vhalloumi is a creamy white vegan cheese alternative with a fibrous texture, and is firmer, less brittle and generally less salty than dairy Feta.
Vhalloumi, like its dairy counterpart, is fundamentally a cooking cheese. Its true character is only revealed when it is heated. Vhalloumi can be use as a kebab cheese, being cubed, skewered and grilled over charcoal, a grill or a pan. If thin slices of the cheese are placed in a hot non-stick pan, the outside will rapidly become crisp and golden brown, while the centre melts. The cheese is excellent when served with salad, hummus and pitta bread.
Vhalloumi is low in saturated fat, sodium and calories, it has high content of calcium, minerals, proteins, vitamins and necessary fatty acids. It contains zero cholesterol and made with absolutely no preservatives or artificial ingredients of any kind. It contains no gluten, no casein, no yeast, no starch, no palm oil and is lactose free. It's 100% dairy free and 100% vegan, is that a surprise?
Weight: approximately 170gr but because it's all made by hand, please be advise that every tub may slightly vary in weight.
Ripeness: 4 weeks
Shelf life: 21 days in the refrigerator, 3 months in the freezer. After opening, it must be eaten within 3 days.
